Alexandria City Council Special Selection has been called for April 21, 2026. The Order for the Special Election is available here.

Polling places will be open from 6AM - 7PM.
Be sure to bring a valid form of ID with you!
This is also the last day to submit your ballot if you are voting with a by-mail ballot. It can be submitted through one of the following options:
By mail - postmarked on or before April 21, 2026, and received by 12 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Returned to your local general registrar's office by 7PM on Tuesday, April 21.
Dropped off at a ballot drop box by 7PM on Tuesday, April 21.
A drop box will be available in front of the Office of Voter Registration & Elections at 132 N Royal St, Suite 100, Alexandria, VA 22314, from the start of Early Voting until the end of Election day (March 6 at 6AM through April 21 at 7PM).
Drop box is under video surveillance and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Ballot drop boxes will also be available at polling places on Election Day from 6AM - 7PM.
If you decide to vote in person, either early or on Election Day, bring the completed by-mail ballot with you to the polling location!
